Summer Lovers

A Poem

Photo by Evgeni Tcherkasski on Unsplash

The damp wispy grass tickles my ankles

With every step, your hand gently holds mine

The dark sky, stars twinkling bright

Crickets chirping fills the sweet summer air tonight

Lifting my hand up to touch your face

I embrace you tightly, never wanting to leave this place

I breathe you in

You smell of cedar, sweat, and musk

A soft breeze dances through the tall trees

There’s no better home for me, than in your arms
